Say Yes to YOUR Dress…
I remember back when I was in junior high. It is a tender age where you are still struggling to define who you are. You relate closely with your friends and feel a strong need to identify with them. There were three of us that liked to pal around and one day we all went shopping together and bought these bold, brightly colored matching shirts. They were very unique blouses but since we planned on wearing them together on the same day to school, we pretty much negated the unique part and they became a “uniform” of sorts instead.
This is how I’ve come to view the longstanding trend in strapless wedding gown styles today. Why must every dress offered in the boutique follow this stringent rule of fashion? After all, this is your wedding day and originality should reign supreme, should it not? You want to be noticed and shine fourth, not simply fit in.
Sure, there are those women that can wear a strapless gown and look stunning, but should this style really be the only fashion formula applied to every bride to be?
The answer is a simple and unwavering No. It makes no matter which fashion trend we were to speak of. One size and style simply does not fit all.
Your best look is just that, YOUR best look. Playing up the most beautiful parts of your individual figure and body type. An honest self assessment is all that is needed to get you started in the right direction in your search for the perfect dress.
First, focus in on your assets. Do you have great shoulders, a tiny waist, long legs or a beautiful neck perhaps? The dress you choose should showcase and emphasize your best features always. Start the decision making process there and be sure and tell your attending bridal assistant your thoughts as well. They know their merchandise and can be of great help if directed properly by you.
Next, establish which parts of your anatomy would you like to de emphasize and choose dresses that achieve this marvelous fashion feat for you as well. Select styles that draw the eye to highlight you best features while steering the gaze away from the not so hot areas. A proper fit is the best solution always.
Finally, and this is important, prioritize comfort as well as what makes you feel most beautiful. I remember the first few wedding dresses that I tried on felt like straight jackets to me! You want a dress that offers you ease of movement and security.
You deserve to enjoy every moment of your wedding day. Truly, if you have to resort to tape in order to prevent a fashion malfunction, this dress is not your friend, do not buy it!
Now, envision yourself socializing with all of your loved ones that day…you should appear graceful, at ease, smiling a genuine smile, not gritting your teeth, tugging at your bust line or only able to draw half breaths because of your rib cage confinement level. No self imposed suffering allowed on your wedding day, that’s an order!
We wish you happy dress shopping ladies, and remember, always dress for success!
